• • The first letter(s) indicate the intended use or vehicle class for the tire. For example, 'P' stands for Passenger Car, 'LT' for Light Truck, 'ST' for Special Trailer, and 'T' for Temporary, which might be known as the spare tire, or donut.
• • The 3-digit number that follows is the section width of the tire in millimeters, which is the widest point from both outer edges (side wall to side wall).
